Canine Prep School is an alliance between Lisa Arant of Small and Tall Dog
Training in Rockville, and Beth Joy of Unleashed Joy Dog Training in Mt. Airy.

Lisa and Beth are combining their years of dog training and behavior
expertise to bring you the best dog training facility in Maryland!

Joining the team are a slew of wonderful positive reinforcement/force free dog trainers
who will be offering every class you and your pup will ever need. From Puppy Playtime,
and Basic Good Manners, to Tricks, Canine Good Citizen, and more.

Lisa began her dog training career over 10 years
ago apprenticing under a well known and successful trainer in the area. She has trained for years with
the Rockville non-profit, Your Dog's Friend, and
currently also does in-home private training.
​
Lisa continues her education by attending webinars and conferences, constantly updating her skills with the newest information about dogs and their behavior.
​
She is an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator,
an AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Evaluator, and
an AKC Trick Dog Evaluator.
​
At home, Lisa lives with her husband, a Boxer
named Tilly, and Mabel, her Boston Terrier.
Additionally, she has two birds, Binx and
Peakles, and a bunch of angelfish.

Beth began her dog training journey in 2010, apprenticing and interning for Pat Miller, eventually becoming a Pat Miller certified trainer, and leading training classes for her.
​
Beth's specialty is Reactive Dogs and holds reactive
dog classes as well as does in-home training for
behavior modification as well as for basic skills.
​
Beth continuously attends educational seminars
and workshops to broaden her scope of knowledge
in the field of dog behavior and training.
​
She also serves as an on-call dog trainer and
assessor for various animal rescue organizations.
​
At home, Beth lives with her husband,
her Border Collie, Belle, Noodle the cat,
and small breed mix rescue, Leo.
Our Awesome Trainers

Carla Repko
Trainer
Carla began her dog training journey five years ago when husky x collie
mix, Artoo, started displaying signs
of reactivity. Carla quickly got sucked into the world of dog sports and training. Her passion is introducing people to dog sports as a way to bond
with their dogs and have fun.
Carla and Artoo regularly compete
in a variety of dog sports including Rally, Barn Hunt, Fast CAT, and soon
to be Scent Work. She also has
another dog, a smooth collie named Astra. She and Astra are exploring
the sports of Conformation and Herding, along with Rally, Barn
Hunt, Obedience, and Fast CAT.
Carla is actively pursuing certification as a Professional Dog Trainer and regularly works to broaden her knowledge and experience of
dog training and behavior.
​
She is an active member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers. Carla is a proud user of positive reinforcement based
training methods.
​
Carla teaches Rally Fundamentals and Rally Precision and Practice Classes.

Jessica Lamb
Trainer
Jessica is the owner and lead trainer of Urban Canine Dog Training. Her special interest is
in bully breeds and early
problem prevention in puppies
but she enjoys all training and
is always actively working with
her own two dogs.

Jessica lives in Montgomery County with her wife and their (human) son, plus their dogs, Ollie and Riot.

Jess teaches some of our Primary Puppy Classes, as well as Loose Leash Walking, Recall Class and an Enrichment Workshop.

Scott Houghton
Trainer
Scott has been teaching trick
training to dogs and their owners
for over a decade.
​
Scott is the lead trainer and entertainer for a comedy stunt
dog show called ‘Mutts Gone Nuts!”. Along with his wife,
Joan, they have been producing and presenting their comedy
dog show in theaters up and
down the east coast that
employs only rescue dogs.
Scott, previously a professional juggler who worked in venues
all over the world, left the world
of circus arts to produce
a comedy dog act in 2008.
He never looked back.

Scott lives in Northern Baltimore County with his lovely wife, Joan, and their plethora of
rescue dogs.
​
Scott teaches our
Intro to Tricks Class as well
as our Advanced Trick Class.
